Unwanted Emails

Unwanted Emails

I continually get, for the past two weeks, unwanted solicitations from various companies or individuals.  I have run Malware and have Norton.  I also, for some time, have placed these into the Spam file, but nothing ever happens.  I cannot seem to get rid of these.  I also do not like the advertisements that show up on my email page, which I also cannot delete.  Comcast needs to find an answer to block all of these unwanted emails and advertisements.

Re: Unwanted Emails

The best thing to do is to keep marking junk mail as spam.  It takes time to train the filters as to what you think is junk.  As far as ads go, are you talking about the ones to the right side of the screen when you're looking at the Inbox?  If so-------------------

All ISPs use advertising for the revenue stream. You do have some control over what ads you see. Underneath any ad on the right side of the screen, click on "Ad Info". Or just go to this link-------------

http://xfinity.comcast.net/adinformation/

That will explain how you can opt out of some, but not all advertising. Or-----use a browser add-on called "AdBlock Plus". That will eliminate all of them. An even better option would be to use an email client like Mozilla Thunderbird or Windows Live Mail. That way you don't even have to look at the Comcast UI, and no ads.

As for the Spam, you might find this of interest-------------------------
