Unable to delete any emails dated 12/20/16

I have been unable to delete any emails in my inbox dated 12/20/16- When I attempt to do so I get the following

 

"This message could not be moved to trash folder, possibly because your mailbox is nearly full.
In that case, please try to empty your deleted items first, or delete smaller messages first. "

 

I have nothing in my trash folder or sent folder. Anything new coming in, I am able to delete with no issues.

 

Any Help would be appreaciated. Thank you
