Transferring e-mail from a cancelled account

Transferring e-mail from a cancelled account

Hi,

I'm trying to transfer my mother-in-laws e-mail from her now cancelled Comcast account (they use AT&T now).  I've tried running through a couple of different transfer processes and both fail.  I started the process on another of my e-mail accounts and it would have been successful.

So my first question is - if a Comcast account is closed are the e-mail addresses, as well as the e-mail, gone?

I wish she would have told me before she closed the account.  I'm sure I could have transferred this stuff over without a problem.

Any thoughts on this would be appreciated. Thanks.

Re: Transferring e-mail from a cancelled account

When service is cancelled, the email address/user ID is suspended for 90 days, after which the ID is put back into the pool of available IDs for any other Comcast customer that might want it.  The email is no longer accessible.  You can try calling Comcast security and see if they can do anything but no promises---------------------

Re: Transferring e-mail from a cancelled account

Great, thank you for the suggestion.  I'll have her call Comcast and see if they can reinstate her account loing enough to get her emails transferred over.

Thanks again.
