Why can't I sort my e-mails by "From?"

Assuming you are using the default Full version of Xfinity Connect, what "view" are you using?  I use the view with the reading pane set to the right.  If you right-click in the grey area to the right of "Sorted by", you will see this----------------------

Pick the criteria you want.

I tried that, but it didn't work; what next ?  I can sort by date and subject, but not by from.  Thank you!

OK I can't see what you're looking at.  Are you using the view with the reading pane set to the right?  In any case, you can right-click on any message in the list and get to this-----------------

The reading pane is below the list of inbox items.  I have always been able to sort on "from," but now, for some reason I can't.  I have done the right click and selected "sort from" but it doesn't change anything.

Try clearing out your browser's cache/browsing history. When you have done that, close out the browser and re-start it in a fresh session.

If that doesn't do it, then try using a different browser and see if you can duplicate the problem that way. If it works OK then you will know the problem probably lies with the first browser. eg: if you are using Internet Explorer, try Chrome or Firefox.

Also, you could try switching from the Full version of Xfinity Connect to the Lite version. Go to Preferences>>>>General, and see which one you're using now. Full is the default. Select the Lite version.

If you are using IE 10 or 11, make sure Compatibility mode is enabled for comcast.net. You will find it in IE under "Tools".

Success!

 

Clearing the browser didn't work; but, changing the preference to "Lite" worked beautifully.  And, when I switched back to the Full version, I found I could now sort on "from."  Thank you, thank you, thank you!

The lite version is intended for those using an older version of the operating system or of the browser.  So if either of those apply to you, that may account for why it works for you.  The lite version has fewer bells and whistles though.  At any rate I'm glad it works for you now.
