Sent file empty after sending email

How come after I send an email (no attachments, links, etc.) there is nothing showing in the 'Sent' file on the left fo the email home page?

From the Inbox page, go to Preferences>>>>>>Email>>>>>>Composing.  Is the box checked to save a copy to the Sent folder?

Thank you! Used to using Office Outlook, does all that stuff automatically..
