This issue should be fixed now.  Please try to create secondaries and let me know if you are still getting the error about having to be at home.

There is a problem with this function right now in Customer Central.  Comcast is aware of the issue and has escalated it to the Network engineers to fix.  We do not have a date when this will be accomplished.

This is not the network problem.  In order to set up a secondary account you must sign on to comcast.net with the primary account/owner username and password.  Click on Account at the top, which will take you to Customer Central.  There you click on the Users & Settings tab.  It is at this point that a number of users have been seeing the network problem about not being signed on from the home computer.  But that is also where you will see the option to add an account IF you are signed on as the primary.  Note that this "primary" is NOT the same as the "primary" shown in XfinityConnect Preferences.  In XC it means the account which is logged on.

This is from  CC_MikeH in another thread:

There is a fix that is aggressively being tested right now for this issue. If that goes well this should be pushed into production by tomorrow night.

Re: Secondary email set up

I am signed in as Primary. No option to add. Says I'm not signed in on home computer. If this is not a network problem, please explain how to add another account.

Currently broken for a number of users.  Comcast is aware (although not all of Comcast;  most front line CSRs remain ignorant of the issue and may do more damage while "helping"), and according to the post above yours, may be fixed soon.

I've had the same problem, discovered August 7th.  Have had a ticket open since then and have spoken to 2 different people.  What is going on here?

It's the same problem lots of other people have, including myself.  We've been putting as much pressure as possible on Comcast and they know about the problem and are working on it.

Re: Secondary email set up

You have to be logged in as the primary to create secondary accounts.  I see the primary for your account is laney-------.

I am trying to set up an email account for my husband.  When I followed the directions, it comes up under my account.  He needs his own email account, not be part of mine.  Please help.

If you are the PRIMARY on the Account, any additional Usernames will be Secondary Accounts.  They can be unrestricted or restricted Usernames (Secondary Users)

If you create a Secondary username/password for him, he can sign in/out with his own Username and password, not yours.  Do you have Remember Me set up for YOUR Username and password?

Perhpas I am not quite understanding what you want to do too?  post back please.

Re: Secondary email set up

I do have "remember me" set up for my login.  I can't pull his email up using his login.  But when I enter my email, his name is listed under my folders and I can pull up his email.  I don't want to have access to his email and he shouldn't have to go into my email to pull up his folder.  I am confused about how we can have separate email accounts.  Would appreciate any help.

Re: Secondary email set up

Where did you set up his email address with his Username and password?  In Customer Central, or in Preferences>Email manager?

Part of your problem is you have Remember me set up.  So- when you go to the homepage and click on Email, you are already signed in with YOUR Username and password.

Which browser/version are you using?  If Internet Explorer:  Click on Tools>Internet Options>Content tab.  Now scroll down to Auto Complete and click on Settings to the right.  Look for "User names and passwords on Forums.  If there is a check mark there, remove it, and click on OK.

Auot complete window in IE9.JPG

Remember me is preventing you from having the option for your husband to sign in with his own username and password.

Post back & let us know if this helps you figure it out or not.
