Receiving huge amounts of spam - spam folder is useless

Receiving huge amounts of spam - spam folder is useless

I am receiving a huge amount of spam (23 messages just today) and the spam folder is useless. There is no filtering at all. This is becoming very annoying.

similar issues reported by many others on Comcast support forums. I beleive this is a Comcast issue. The volume and the frequency is stunning. Ready to change providers.

There was a recent compromise that resulted in google relaying a _lot_ of spam.   They usually do a relatively good job of filtering their outbound mail, but these were tougher to catch.  The spams should be getting caught now.   We believe this was (one of) the compromise(s) that was exploited to send the spam:

"The rooted devices then download and install software that steals the authentication tokens that allow the phones to access the owner's Google-related accounts without having to enter a password. The tokens work for a variety of Google properties, including Gmail, Google Photos, Google Docs, Google Play, Google Drive, and G Suite."

Re: Receiving huge amounts of spam - spam folder is useless

I never provide my Comcast email address to anyone, In fact, I only use it to receive readable voice mails, and voice mail notifications from my Comcast/Xfinity phone service, so, I doubt my recent issue has to do with some other companies data being compromised etc. I have been a Comcast customer for at least 15 years, and triple play for about 7.

Beginning on the 1st of December, 2016, I began receiving what Appears to be adverts for pornographic related materials, erictile supplements, and other similar products, to my Comcast.net inbox. Each day since, the amount of this spam, has increased to the point that today, Dec 5, at 10:30 am, I already have 27 in my inbox. My usual procedure is to delete these without opening, then go to deleted folder, and permanently delete immediately.

I had given in to the reality that this was normal for my Outlook Junk mail box, and with whatever filtering they provide, I have never observed the like in my Outlook In box, and never even open the junk mail for last few years.

As I never use my Comcast.net address for anything other than Comcast/xfinity voice mail notification, and in 7 years I had never had a single incoming email except from Comcast themselves, I have become concerned.

Upon on further research, I know notice that the Pornographic Spammers have utilized some tool, allowing them to spoof the sending address to match the receiving address, thereby bypassing the "only receive email from safe senders" type of filtering.

I have checked my sent folder to verify my account has not been compromised in that way, and there are no sent emails.

I am am at a loss as to what I can do next as they have some way of manipulating their metadata so it appears to Comcasts system that the emails are actually coming from me.

any suggestions?

I am having this exact problem. It's like the spam filter is not even working.  I get the same spam in my inbox whether I turn it on or off.
