I received an email from Plaxo, apparently the host of Comcast email (xfinity) stating they were going out of business at the end of the year.  What will happen to comcast email support after that?

Plaxo supplied the address book and calendar functions for the Comcast email.  If you haven't been already, at some point you will be migrated to the new email format which is from Appsuite, and has it's own address book.  I just got an email from Comcast saying the calendar will be discontinued in December.  I don't know if Appsuite will be forthcoming with a calendar yet.  I have had no email from Plaxo so far.

Note that "App Suite" is the name of a product line, not of a company. The company is named "Open-Xchange". See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Open-Xchange.

This is helpful information, but I have not yet seen anything official from Comcast which might help me through the transition.  Is something coming?  Are we on our own?

If you are referring to the new email format, it will just happen.  You won't get any heads-up or anything.  There is no way of knowing when for any one account.
