Phone number in use by another Xfinity account

Phone number in use by another Xfinity account

Xfinity had this on a message I received:

"Enter your mobile number to get text messages for password recovery. We'll send a code by text message first to verify your mobile number."

 
I put my mobile number in the blank and got this message:
"This phone number is already associated with another XFINITY account."
 
There was no suggestion as to what to do next. Presumably I would have to submit another mobile number, but I don't have another. I don't know what other account they refer to, either. I'd like to have the protection but don't know what to do.

When you first set up the account in question, you should have been offered the option of using either a cell phone number or a non-Comcast email account for the second verification factor.  See here for an explanation--------------

I may be confused by the word "account". I have an Xfinity account and three email addresses, and I understand that the addresses are also called accounts.

Is that correct?

Are these verification factors for the Xfinity account or for the primary email address or all email addresses?

Do secondary email addresses use the same password as the primary address or does each address have its own password?

Yes.  One of the accounts is your Primary, and the others are secondary accounts.

 

Are these verification factors for the Xfinity account or for the primary email address or all email addresses?

 

Each one must have it's own authentication factor.

 

 

Do secondary email addresses use the same password as the primary address or does each address have its own password?

 

Each one must have it's own password.
