Phishing emails from Comcast

Phishing emails from Comcast

Phishing emails from comcast.

I recently received two emails from xfinity / comcast asking me to verify my account informaiton and accept new terms and conditions. I haven't made any changes to my account recently and I'm locked into a 2 year agreement, with over a year left.

The emails are

From: "Comcast Online Communications" <online.communications@alerts.comcast.net>
Subject: Your Comcast Term Agreement

The extremely sketchy part of this is that there is a link that is actually sending you to a non xfinity site. "www[.]verify.istonish[.]com" and brings up the following page:

I tried calling comcast, and they claim there was no changes to my account recently and there is no pending actions on my part so I'm not doing anything with this email, but is there an email address for the Comcast security or fraud team that I can forward these to?

If these turn out to be legit emails, perhaps better communicaiton is needed. Redirecting customers to websites like this isn't a good idea.

Thanks,

Grant

Re: Phishing emails from Comcast

It looks like a phishing scam.  Do not respond to it.  Comcast will not send you anything asking for your account details since they already have that information. See here-------------

Unbelievable as it may seem, Comcast actually uses this sloppy and sketchy setup, although I don't know why they would send the email to you if you didn't change your service. See http://forums.xfinity.com/t5/Customer-Service/Electronic-Letter-of-Authorization/m-p/1827709#M42362

Only Comcast would use a verification scheme that leaves customers wondering if they are the victims of a phishing scam. http://businesshelp.comcast.com/help-and-support/email/learn-about-email-phishing says:

"Comcast will never ask for billing or payment information through email."

Yeah, right.
