In general, MacSurfer is a good launching pad location to link to a bunch of helpful Mac sites.

There's also this one at dslreports.com.. I would normally suggest you register (actually a good idea anyway) so that you are not troubled by the google sense ads which provide links to dubious software.. But that's not a concern for you folks, is it? Smiley Wink

yes, have been registered at DSLreports for a while, good suggestion, I'd forgotten about their forums, thanks.

Boy, I never said that there wasn't lousy Mac software, but you're right in the sense that I have never seen Mac software advertised on DSLreports.

BTW, there is a package called "Little Snitch" for the Mac that blocks/logs attempts by software to "phone home" using the internet. Should catch key loggers, and also the programs that automatically check for updates; yu set it up with which apps you'll allow internet access. (I don't use it, but I know it's available.) I assume there's a PC equivalent (likely several).

http://discussions.info.apple.com/ -- you have to get yourself an "Apple ID" to post, but that's free & easy...

There is a monthly newsletter that compiles hints and tips from various sources for not only the Mac OS but also for all kinds of Mac applications.

Looks like "Your Mac Life" has a forum with a tech support area. It has two good tech guys that answers most of the questions.
Your Mac Life is a Internet radio show that's live (Audio and Video feeds) on Wednesday nights. There is also a archive audio of last show. They don't usually take tech questions on the show but the forum seems pretty active.
