Occasional SENT messages disappearing on both Mac mail app AND mail.comcast.net

Occasional SENT messages disappearing on both Mac mail app AND mail.comcast.net

My mother is have a strange issue with her Comcast email and I am out of ideas.

The systems being used are 3 Apple computers. One with Lion, one Mavericks, and one Yosemite. When the system was used as a POP setup, it worked without any problem at all, despite running on different OS's, and other IMAP email accounts have always worked well despite the different OS' and so I do not think this is the issue.

A few weeks ago her Comcast email was upgraded from POP to IMAP. The formal migration was requested and completed successfully, and then it was manually setup on each computer to ensure that the settings were consistent across the different OS'. The settings used are shown in these images:

Since then, it has worked well with one major exception. Occasionally, a sent message does NOT show up on both the Mac mail program as well as on the webpage email interface (mail.comcast.net; full verion). More or less, the message literally disapears as if it never existed. I checked the Sent boxes on all 3 computers synced, and then mail.comcast.net...the sent message is literally gone. However, the recipients get them at least some of the time as they reply, yet there is literally no trail left. This is a sporadic issue and may only happen once every 10 or so emails sent.

I have tried everything from manually verifying the settings to removing & reading the Comcast email to syncronizing to rebuilding the mailbox. Nothing seems to work.

Do these settings appear correct? Does anyone have any suggestions? This is a HUGE issue and I am beginning to suspect that it is a problem with Comcast's own IMAP server. I would prefer not to revert back to POP given IMAP would avoid having to delete the same messages 3 times, but this is huge problem as having a record of sent messages for her is literally mission-critical.

Thanks in advance!

Oh, email deletion schedule has been set and verified so that messages should not be deleted, and is configured to save a copy of sent messages to the server, which it does correctly only about 90% of the time.

I have seen this on two different computers in my house so it is not your imagination. I researched it in the past but do not have a solution. See these links for reference:

Wish I could be more help. If you find a workaround I hope you will post it here.

A couple of weeks late to the fray, but I'll suggest that as a test you try using a different client with the account and see if you can duplicate the problem that way.  If you are using Apple Mail, try using Mozilla Thunderbird and see what happens.  I am running Apple Mail on an iMac and haven't had the issue you are describing.
