Moving messages in email folders to save on drive

I have numerous email messages in folders I set up in my Comcast email program. Now, I would like to move and save to a drive on my computer. How best to do this?

The best way would be to enable the account in a desktop email client like Outlook, Thunderbird, Mac Mail, Windows Live Mail or some other.  Make sure the account is set up using IMAP and then the folders and emails will all be both on the computer and on the server.
