I want to delete a large amount of email but only know how to do one at a time

How do I highlight several emails at once to delete several at a time without doing it one by one?

I'm assuming you are still using the old email format for Comcast.  One thing to do------check the little box at the top left of the email message list in the Inbox page.  That will select all the emails on the displayed page.  It's either 50 or 100 I think.  Then click on the Delete button in the toolbar.  You can also click on one email, hold down the Shift key on your keyboard, then scroll down to whatever next message you want to get rid of, and it will select everything in between.  Then again, hit the Delete button.
