I am unable to send mail from Cook'n

I am unable to send mail from Cook'n

I have a cooking program called Cook'n. There is an option for sending recipes through email; however, when I try to set it up and send the recipe, it will not send because the outgoing host is rejecting smtp:comcast.net. It was suggested that I use port 465, but that didn't help.

Re: I am unable to send mail from Cook'n

Unless it is a type in your post you say smtp:comcast.net   There is no colon in it just periods.

smtp.comcast.net

You can also try port 587 and you have to set it to log into the server (comcast user name and password) to send with ssl

Re: I am unable to send mail from Cook'n

I was able to send my email after I corrected my typo-- you were correct. I had entered a colon where it didn't belong; replaced it with a ., and off the email went. I was curious about the different ports, and researched them; got myself straightened out on that-- one was for use with SSL and one was for use without SSL. Thanks for all your help.
