I bought a new laptop/tablet convertable. It will only receive email in IMAP. I can't figure out how to format comcast email so it will receive. I also tried to set up in IMAP on my PC using Live Mail. I get a message 'can't download folders'.

I was able to set up my email in Windows Live Mail with IMAP settings. Now I noticed it automatically emptys my TRASH and can't seem to stop it. I always save at least one month of emails in trash in case I need to retrieve them. I tried setting 'don't sync' on the folder and it continues to empty it. How do I stop it from deleting my TRASH folder?
Using Windows 7, Firefox browser, Windows Live Mail.
Open WLM. At the top click on Files>>>>>>>>Options>>>>>>Mail>>>>>>Advanced>>>>>Maintenance. Are any of the boxes checked under "Cleaning up Messages"?
I have two of my email accounts set up as IMAP and followed your directions for both. Under Maintenance - Cleaning Up Messages: the only bolxed checked is 'Compact the database on sutdown every 40 runs'. No other boexes checked in either account.
Also under 'Advanced' - 'Settings' :: There are no boxes checked in either account. I'm curious about the first box listed 'Use the Deleted Items folder for IMAP accounts. Should this be checked?
I also opened 'Store Folder' and this was in the pop-up box titled 'Your personal message store is located in the following folder:
~ C:\Users\Stephen\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Live Mail ~
Yes, the Deleted Items folder thing should be checked by default..
