How do I search a single folder - not all?

I just want to search my inbox and items in trash and other folders show up in the search

AFAIK you can't restrict it like that in the webmail.  You would need to use an email client like Thunderbird, Windows Live Mail or some other to do that.

You can block the Spam and Trash folders from searches at Preferences /  Email / Search Settings, but other folders will still be included.
