Filters not working

Filters not working

http://i.imgur.com/dMzVJEn.jpg

As you can see in the image, I have *@netzero.net set as a wildcard condition and on the 4th line you can see the email address that wasn't filtered. Does it look like something is set wrong? Also, my filter settings under Email Preferences are completely different from what I see when I right click on the email address after Sent By when I'm viewing the email. Shouldn't they be the same? Neither is filtering anything so the filters are completely not working for me.

Re: Filters not working

For your wildcard matches try using a trailing asterisk, like "*@netzero.net*". Or use "contains" "@netzero.net" instead of a wildcard match.

For the specific address match, use "contains" instead of "matches exactly".

Email addresses are often surrounded by <angle brackets>. Is that the difference you are seeing?

Re: Filters not working

I actually tried exactly what you suggested. To use " "contains" "@netzero.net" instead of a wildcard match." But it looks like there's a bigger problem. When I view my filter list by going through an email like this:

I see my list like this:

When I view my filter list through the "Email Preferences" page, my list is blank like this:

I can fill my list through the "Email Preferences" page but it still does nothing when I "Run" the filter. I already deleted all the spam emails I had the other day, so I tried making a simple filter like this just to move an email from my "Inbox" to "Trash":

It does nothing. After I choose "Inbox" here:

The list of folders just disappears and it looks like this:

Should there be some kind of confirmation the filter ran or something else there?

I think that's normal. "Add to filter" in an email folder gives you the option of creating a new filter, or editing an existing one. Either way, you'll only see the filter you're editing or creating.

Well no, not blank. Your image lists one filter, "Blocklist", followed by icons you can click to Edit, Delete, or Run. It looks like you clicked the Add link following the "Blocklist" filter and began creating another filter, also named "Blocklist".

"Run" has been broken for at least a year for me. Comcast has a poor record of keeping the functions of its webmail working correctly, especially Filters. Without Run, the only way I can test a filter is "live test" -- set up the filter, wait for a matching email to arrive, and observe what happens. It sux, but that's Comcast for you.

I know it looks like I created a new filter but that's what it looks like when I click to edit the filter that's already there. It looks like it's pointing to "Add Filter" but it's just the way it's lined up. You can see the action carries over from any changes made through an email but not the actual addresses or domains. I'm just chalking it up to another thing with Comcast that doesn't work like it's supposed to. I'll try different settings when I have the chance. You can send yourself emails and try to filter them to see if it's working.
