Can I have my incoming emails be deleted automatically after they have been in my inbox for a certain period of time?  That is, after 6 months of receiving an email, can I set up my incoming emails to automatically be deleted after 6 months or one year or any period of time I choose?

The old email format had the ability to set time periods for the different default folders.  But the new format has no such feature.  So no, there is no way to do what you describe in the webmail interface.
