Email trouble

Email trouble

I'm a long time Comcast user.  In the past week or two I've started having intermittant trouble with email using Thunderbird/Win7.  I receive fine but have trouble sending mail - only through Thunderbird - if I use the Comcast web interface it works OK.

 

Once in a while it sends OK through Thunderbird,  but most of the time I get the following message... "An error occurred while sending mail: The mail server sent an incorrect greeting:  resomta-ch2-01v.sys.comcast.net comcast ESMTP server temporarily not available, please contact support."

 

Contacting Comcast support is nothing but an exercise in frustration and a waste of a couple of hours of my life - no sense going through that again.  Does anyone here have any insight into this problem?  It looks to me like a porblem with one of the Comcast servers or routers.
