In the forwarded email, click where it says 1 attachment. Hover your cursor over the thumbnail picture, and you'll see a trash can delete icon. Click on that to remove the attachment.

What browser are you using? I'm using Chrome, and I'm not seeing what you describe.

In Chrome v62.0.3202.62 on Win 10 v1703 the icon looks like:
Bruce I'm on a Mac, and I can only get that icon in the Compose window. The same thing happens on my Windows 10 Dell-------It only appears in the Compose window. Are you saying you got it in either the Reply or Forward window?

Yep. In Firefox and in Chrome, Reply and Reply All don't carry attachments along, but Forward does, and, while editing the Forwarded message, each of the attached files has the little trash can icon.
