Email account still active after cancellation

After cancelling service my email account was disabled in that I cannot access it using the userid and password, but the account is still active in that if someone sends an email it is received.

 

I can see the inbox count increasing daily on the Comcast Connect app and when I send an email to my address there is no bouncing saying the address is no longer valid.

 

Either I should be able to access the emails or they should be bounced so the sender knows the address is no longer valid.

  When you cancel the account, the email address is suspended for 90 days, and then released into a pool of available IDs for any other Comcast customer that wants it.  But up until the end of the 90 days, the email could still be active, but you just can't see it any more.  There's no consistency to it, but it appears that's what happened with your account.

 

I had the same thing happen-----------I recently conducted an experiment, wherein I created a secondary email address, used it for a few days, and then deleted it.  But I had also set the account up in Mac Mail.  For the next 90 days, like you, I was unable to sign in to the account through Comcast, and it no longer appeared under "My Account".  However, I could still send and recieve emails using Mac Mail.  There is no guarantee that will be true for everyone though.

 

As a test, mark your calendar for 90 days from the day you canceled, and see if you can still send to that account or if you get a bounce.  You could also call Comcast and ask then what is going on if you like.  Start with Comcast security-----------------
