Deleting e-mails across devices

Until recently, when I logged on to my xfinity account to manage my e-mails, if I deleted a message there it was also automatically deleted from my iPhone. However this no longer happens automatically. Maybe a setting got changed when I recently upgraded my phone to iOS 9.2.1?  Now the e-mails just collect endlessly on my phone. I don't want to have to delete messages in 2 places - can someone please advise how to avoid that?

You didn't say what other device you have the account enabled on, but if you are using IMAP on both that and the phone, it should delete on both.  So assuming you have IMAP on the other computer/device, on the phone try deleting the account and re-entering it from scratch.  It should auto-configure it with IMAP once you input the user ID and password.   See if that does the trick.  I have an iPhone 4s, and just did the update to iOS 9, and I'm not having the issue.  Works just fine.
