Delay of emails - held up for one hour at server109.appriver.com

Hi email experts!   I'm hoping someone can explain why 6 incoming emails got delayed for one hour at server109.appriver.com ....  With the assistance of a technical resource at the sender's side, we analyzed the message headers using mxtoolbox.com and discovered that all 6 messages which came in to Comcast at different times within about a 45 minute window were all delayed at Comcast - not at the sender's server.   Is this something that happens with any degree of frequency?  This situation occurred yesterday (5/21) between 4:15 and 5:00 p.m.   Subsequently, I mysteriously received all 6 emails time-stamped in my inbox at 6:11 p.m.   It was very strange, and I wonder if there is an explanation.
