Connections to imap.comcast.net time out

Since beginning to use IMAP for e-mail, I have noticed the connections to imap.comcast.net, not just from home, but also on my mobile phone, time out.


Thunderbird will display a window that the connection to the server has timed out.


On my mobile phone while on the carrier's mobile network (Verizon), I try to select one of the Comcast IMAP folders and nothing happens, no data is being exchanged (the data icon isn't displaying the arrows) and this also causes issues with other non-Comcast IMAP accounts I have set up with the e-mail app. The connection issues basically hang the app until there is a connection from Comcast's IMAP server. Once I deleted the Comcast IMAP account from the app and restarted it, everything was fine with the app.


Since I'm experincing this on both the Comcast and mobile networks, is Comcast having a capacity issue with the IMAP servers, perhaps too many customers are trying to connect to them at the same time? This happens on a daily basis. Perhaps Comcast needs to add an additional IMAP server to handle the load?
