Computer Speed

My osx Yosemite (10.10.5) is slowing down to a crawl lately when attempting to go online. The upload/download figures seem unchanged from when I first sswitched to Comcast. I'm using safari 9.0.1. I use a 20" hp monitor and wondered if that was having any effect. Disconnected the monitor as a test there was no inprovement. I've been using this set-up for sometime. Am I suffuring from a bad connection somewhere or an outdated router?

Appreciate any help....getting too old for this nonsense! Thanks!!

A few things to try :

1 - switch to another browser and see if speed changes (Firefox, Chrome)

2 - if new browser works better, clear the cache and try memory clean.(Safari)

3 - try updating your OS X to El Capitan

   Good luck!

Create another user account and log on from there to see if it is still slow.

It looks like around the time you posted this there were some degraded service issues in your area. Could you confirm if you're continuing to experience issues or if things have improved since then?
