Checking email through xfinity.com

Checking email through xfinity.com

I don't understand. We pay for your service but yet when I go to check my emails on line there are ads in two different places on the page? Why have ads if the subscribers are paying you to use your email address?

I can understand services like Google and Yahoo!, but a pay service still showing ads to their paying customers?

Makes no sense to me ...

Re: Checking email through xfinity.com

All ISPs use advertising for the revenue stream. You do have some control over what ads you see. Underneath any ad on the right side of the screen, click on "Ad Info". Or just go to this link-------------

http://xfinity.comcast.net/adinformation/

That will explain how you can opt out of some, but not all advertising. Or-----use a browser add-on called "AdBlock Plus". That will eliminate all of them. An even better option would be to use an email client like Mozilla Thunderbird or Windows Live Mail. That way you don't even have to look at the Comcast UI, and no ads.

Also, Comcast will tell you what you are paying for is the high speed internet connection.  Anything else they provide like the email, calendar and address book are "extras".
