Cannot start Microsoft Outlook

The following error message appears when I try to start Microsoft Outlook on my laptop with Windows 10, the full version of Xfinity Connect and Outlook: "Cannot start Microsoft Outlook. Cannot open the Outlook window. The set of folders cannot be opened. The file .....cannot be opened." It does not matter if I try to start it in safe mode. It was working this morning and then started showing this error message. Thanks.

You can try a couple of things to see if it fixes it.

 

First check task manager and make sure Outlook isn't running as process there.  If it is kill the process.

 

You can run ScanPST.exe to see if the PST file is corrupt and fix it if it is.   Where Scanpst.exe is located depends on the version of Outlook.  You can search for it on your computer and run it.

 

You can try doing a repair install of Office from the control panel.
