Attach file from desktop

I have a file on my desktop that I want to attach to an e-mail.  What steps do I need to complete the task?

Re: Attach file from desktop

When in the Compose page, look in the toolbar for "Attach".  Click on it and navigate to the file on your desktop.  It looks like this----------------

You can also drag and drop the file into the email.

Re: Attach file from desktop

The folder on the desktop would not attach to the message.  I tried with a different folder, I tried with a short-cut and I tried from the folder itself.  Nothing worked.  The attachment is a folder of pictures from two different cameras.  Maybe that affected it somehow.  I gave up and solved the problem without using e-mail.  Not a satisfying solution but it worked.

Re: Attach file from desktop

OK that paints a different picture;  you can't attach folders, only files.  A folder is not a file.  To do what you are describing, you would be much better off uploading the photos to Photobucket, Picasa, Flikr or some other free image hosting website, then just email a link to your recipients.
