SMTP port number

I've installed an automation controller in my house and it has the ability to email me notifications automatically.  As part of the setup I need to know my SMTP port.  How can I find that out?

Re: SMTP port number

Comcast SMTP uses port 587 plus you need to enter your account credentials for sending out mail.

You might want to think on using a separate email account for your controller separate from your regular email accounts, and maybe from a 3rd party email provider like Gmail.

Re: SMTP port number

Thanks.  I tried 587 but it didn't work.  Is 587 used universally?

Re: SMTP port number

I believe 587 is it for all.
