Receiving email painfully slow

We migrated to a new PC, using Windows 7 & Microsoft Office Outlook 2007.  The first few days were fine, but now receiving email takes forever - and I mean sloooowww.  Any ideas?  It's not attachments - even small emails take 5 or more minutes to download.

Re: Receiving email painfully slow

Are you having the same issue when you go into Smartzone as when you go into Outlook? Is the slowness only happening with Outlook, is it happening with other programs, websites, etc.

Re: Receiving email painfully slow

Also, how is the machine connected to the internet? If wireless, how is the signal? Is the router firmware current? Are you connected to YOUR network and not a neighbor's? Do you have cordless phones operating in the 2.4GHz spectrum that could be interfering with your wireless network?

SmartZone is fine - right there.  It's just getting from there to our Outlooks.  And it hasn't improved...

Re: Receiving email painfully slow

We are wireless to Comcast.  All our other computers, which have been on the network for a while, seem fine.  It's just this new one.  Internet seems to be connected at high speed; even videos download fine.  It's just getting in email...

I would suggest deleting the account information in Outlook and then uninstall outlook itself.

Is Outlook part of the Office Suite or a stand alone product?  Did you notice any error messages while installing?

Uninstall Outlook and reboot your pc and then re-install.  When you install again, watch for any error messages.  If you see any please post them here.

I doubt this is the case, but sometimes anti-virus software and can interfere with the installation.  If you are behind a firewall (which you should) you can disable the a/v software before installing Outlook.  Also, don't do anything else until the install finishes.
