Re: Flashing red box and "Issue 1" on e-mail page.

I hate this too! Although I don't have a seizure disorder that dratted red flashing thingy gives me a severe headache when I'm in my email for more than a moment or two. GET RID OF IT COMCAST! Mine says it's for the Xfinity Twitter account. I do NOT twitter, tweet, or text- nor will I ever do so. I want this thing GONE!

Re: Flashing red box and "Issue 1" on e-mail page.

Besides the flashing red box, I am also getting an error message "object error" which prevents me from doing anything.  I have to shut down.  I can't even do a search.

Re: Flashing red box and "Issue 1" on e-mail page.

Sandy,

Regarding the object error you are getting:

See this thread: http://forums.comcast.com/t5/E-Mail-and-Xfinity-Connect-Help/How-to-fix-object-error-in-email/m-p/14...

Check your Add Ons

AND-

I would recommend that you disable all add-ons in IE (Tools -> Manage Ad-ons, select each add-on and click disable), then RESTART IE to see if the error goes away.  If the error does go away then you can then do the following to determine which add-on is causing the problem.

1) enable one of the previously disabled add-ons (Tools -> Manage Ad-ons, select an add-on and click enable)

2) restart the browser

3) re-open the browser and goto comcast.net email to see if you get the error again

repeat steps 1-3 until you get the error again

once you get the error you will know that the last add-on enable was the one that caused the problem.

If an add-on is greyed out and unable to be disabled from the menu, then you'll need to go to control panel and uninstall the program that installed the rogue add-on.

Re: Stupid ad

I tried opting out of ads, and it didn't work.  I also went through the Comcast site and tried this:

https://emails.xfinity.com/pub/rf?_ri_=X0Gzc2X%3DWQpglLjHJlYQGr4zgAjba6i2K26HGRmKWO25oCdfVwjpnpgHlpg...

This, too, failed to work.  I tried restarting my computer after this, but it still didn't work.

Now I have put a piece of electrical tape over the blinking red box.Smiley Happy  That works!

Re: Stupid ad

Comcast is aware of the complaints about the Promotion Box and flashing red box.  At this point, we are waiting for a response to see what, if anything will be done about it.

You are not locked into using XfinityConnect for email.  You can use any email program you like.  For example, all three of these are free email programs:  Windows Live Mail, Thunderbird, Gmail.

IF YOU USE FIRFOX as your browser, you can block that box by installing the Ad Blocker Plus Add On.

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/adblock-plus/

I use it and I don't see anything except the word Promotions>>>

Re: Security

The Promotions Box you see in your Inbox cannot be removed.

However, IF you use Firefox as your browser as I do, you can block it by installing the Ad Blocker Plus Add On.

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/adblock-plus/

Once installed all you will see is this>>>

Comcast is aware of the complaints about this Promotion box/ads.  There are quite a few posts/threads about it in the Email Forum already.  Now we have to wait and see how Comcast will handle this.

Please read one of the other many threads on this issue in this forum before starting a new thread.  Thank you..

comcast is aware of the complaints already.  now we are waiting to see what will be done about it.  We don't have any answers for you.

I can only suggest one thing- IF you use Firefox as your browser, install the Ad Blocker Plus Add on.  It will block it.  All you will see is this>>>

Re: flashing red...& error messages

I would like to ADD my complaint regarding the 'flashing red box' that cannot be closed, resized, or disabled in any manner that I have tried.  It is the most distracting and annoying thing that comcast has ever delivered!  In my case, I am directed to PC Health Boost Scan and Repair Tool for "How to Fix Outlook Error 0x800ccc0d".  This stupid "flasher" appears on my desktop AND my laptop.  I use Outlook on my laptop, but NOT on my desktop.  STOP IT!

Re: PROMOTIONS BLINKING BOX

I also want to know how to get rid of the blinking red box.  I just got off the phone with Xfinity and they wanted to charge me $14 to speak with a specialist. Crazy!!!

Re: Stupid ad

I did the ad blocker for Firefox and it instantly got rid of the red flashing square that was a big pain. I called Comcast to report and they would get back to me in 72 hours....It is amazing what they don' know !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And to think  for a split second thought of paying one of those stupid registry cleaners to fix it.  Comcast probably gets a cut from those guys.....Sad !!! I hope they have someone who monitors this board !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: PROMOTIONS BLINKING BOX

You cannot get rid of the blinking box, it is part of the program.  Comcast is aware of all the complaints about this.  Now we need to see what will be done about it.

IF YOU USE FIREFOX as your browser, you can block the blinking box by installing the Ade Blocker Plus Add On.

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-us/firefox/addon/updated-ad-blocker-for-fire/

Once installed you will see this instead>>

Re: PROMOTIONS BLINKING BOX

I will be leaving comast if I have to put up with unwanted advertising in order to use my email.  The red box that is constantly blinking in order to get me to "follow" Xfinity on Twitter will make me NEVER follow Xfinity on twitter or anywhere else.

Please, remove the promotion section in the right channel, completely.

Re: Flashing red box and "Issue 1" on e-mail page.

Jan. 12th, basically, 3 comcast reps. have said they can;t do anything about this. I clicked on the link 'issue' next to the flashing red square and contacted the company to ask them to remove the flashing red square...maybe others can do this and they might listen. Comcast does not really care about their customers - they seem to care more about their advertisers...I tried going to control panel but the 'privacy safeguard' is not listed there...Comcast suggested I keep comcast but use a free e-mail provider...I just don't understand why they can't tell the company who put the flashing red square in my e-mail box space to take it out...consumers have no significance for companies any more...has anyone been able to remove the flashing red square??? thanks...

Re: PROMOTIONS BLINKING BOX

I spent an hour and a half with Comcast tonight trying to get rid of the promotions box, and they confirmed that the box and the ads in it are built into the Xfinity e-mail.  I double-checked this by clicking on the ad box and adding it to my "blocked" sites.  Blocking this ad site--which prevents storage of the cookie for the site--generated a nasty message when I tried to log back in to my e-mail, and I had to turn off the blocking to get back in.  Comcast DOES control the ad traffic in this box, and turning off the other e-mail ads in the Comcast preferences DOES NOT turn off those in the promotions box.  I now have a piece of cardboard taped to my monitor to block the annoying blinking ad while I check my e-mail....no one knows what to do at Comcast

Re: PROMOTIONS BLINKING BOX

Nothing can be done about this annoying red flashing box on our end, Comcast put it there and Comcast has to remove it. I think it is very poor customer service of Comcast to even allow this when we are paying for the use of their email. I can see this happening and it does happen on free email accounts from yahoo, etc., but paying customers should not be bothered with this nonsense! I can't stand it and can't wait to hurry up, read my emails and get out of my email box!

That's funny! I'm only happy I'm not the only one going nuts with this ridiculous red flashing box! Somebody suggested if you use Firefox you can block it. I will see if that works, since I did download the ad-blocker, but I have to restart to see if it works. (don't you always have to restart for anything, another annoying thing)

Re: PROMOTIONS BLINKING BOX

ON the Bottom left

                                               Promotions

                                               Follow Xfinity on Twitter

Blinking red box                      Issues (1)     This is the url it  connects to.     http://www.fix-out-express.com

The red box blinks fast and continually.  Not only is it annoying but could be a hazard.  Has anyone there

looked at the Americans with Disabilities Act .  That kind of stuff can cause seizures.  Looking at  your blogs I  see it's been an issue since at least 2006.  If you can't stop it why don't have an option to expand your folder column to the bottom.   Actually your whole email display page could use some work,  too much wasted space.

Ditto...ditto....flashing red box SUCKS!

I will give it one more month and then, like my wife and kids, I will switch to my gmail account only.

It will make it that much easier to leave comcast altogether when the time comes.

Re: PROMOTIONS BLINKING BOX

This red box just started flashing and annoying me a few weeks ago. I can't believe people have been complaining about it since 2006 and Comcast hasn't done anything about it! Talk about lousy customer service! We are paying for these email boxes, we should get what we want!

I, too will be switching companies if this isnt stopped...WE are the paying customers and deserve better than this...if Comcast has so little regard for it customers, they deserve to loose them....I want to be able to not have a "promotions" area on MY email page...I am not interested in paying to read ads

Add me to the list of those who hate this flashing red box!!!  I'm avoiding my email because of it and that's not acceptable...

Has anyone been successful getting rid of it?
