Is Comcast preying on senior citizens?

For several days, I (and others) are unable to open Xfinity webmail despite all the "clean cache, cookies, reset brower settings" -- etc etc.  In frustration, I called Comcast yesterday (11 Jan 2012) at approx 4:45 a..m. EST.

Explained several times what was happening; that as a senior citizen I needed to access webmail to see if missing emails were in my Junk folder and not getting "passed" to my email client (WinMail).

And what did this "customer account executive" say to me?  'IS YOUR MONITOR PLUGGED IN ?"

Would love to report that young man, but he appeared to be chewing gum or something and his name was incomprehensible.

No joy opening emails with IE8, or Firefox.  I refuse to use Chrome.  Javascript error from IE8 is:

Webpage error details

User Agent: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 8.0; Windows NT 6.0; WOW64; Trident/4.0; .NET4.0C; .NET CLR 3.5.30729)

DOESN'T COMCAST RESPECT EITHER LONG-TERM CUSTOMERS AND/OR SENIORS??

"CUSTOMER SERVICE" means providing
s-e-r-v-i-c-e to the customer, not the other way around.

Re: Is Comcast preying on senior citizens?

Try this work around until the problem is resolved. Check your mail using http://m.comcast.net/m/

This is the mobile site but can be accessed from your computer. To check your folders click the word Folders at the top of the email page.

Comcast employees must be authorized to post in the forum in an official capacity. Employees posting here have their names in red and are designated as employees. Names not in red are customers.

This is done to protect customers and for assurance that they are dealing with a Comcast employee.
Non-Authorized Employees are allowed to post but cannot state they are employees nor can they allude to being employees.

Re: Is Comcast preying on senior citizens?

There are several possible causes for JavaScript errors in web pages:

  • There can be an actual error in the code.
  • Temporary issue on the server may cause incomplete code to be served to your browser.
  • Network issues or other reasons may prevent the page from being fully downloaded.
  • Your browser may be using an outdated version of one or more JavaScript, HTML, or CSS files from its cache.
  • Evil Comcast executives out to prey on senior citizens?
