In the last few weeks, I suddenly can't open any jpeg files in Outlook Express 6. I have not uninstalled, deleted or erased any programs. The error message is "This action is only valid for products that are currently installed." I went to Microsoft and tried their recommmended fix of deleting the Identities Registry Key and starting Outlook Express over, but that didn't work.
Tool bar, tools, options, gen.tab, there is a small box that is checked to have you not save attacments because they may be a virus. IF you have a good, updated anti virus program, go ahead and uncheck it.
A friend helped and this was the solution. Go to My computer, Tools, Folder Options, File Type. Scroll down to Jpeg, click on it, and look down on the screen. See which program is being used to open Jpeg files. Click change and there will be recommended programs. Try something different than was being used. It worked.
