So why does the camera not catch all movement

Which camera do you have? Do you have the 24/7 video set up for the camera?  This is an additional $9.95/mo.  If you do the camera should caputre most events.  I have had a cat walk by and it captured it.  Additionally, even if it didn't caputre the event and if you do have 24/7 recording you can go into the web portal and see everything from the camera for about the last 10 days, even if motion wasn't detected.  The camera is recording everything.  If you don't have the 24/7 recording then the cameras will not capture any motion unless you have a motion sensor set up with rules to tell the camera to capture a clip if motion is detected.
