Re: How do you activate a new modem?

1) Turn off your computer;

2) Install the modem;

3) Turn on computer and open web browser.

You should now be at the Comcast activation page.  Just follow the directions and you should be on-line in no time (assuming your signal levels are good enough). If that fails you'll have to call 1-800-COMCAST (1-800-266-2278) or 1-800-XFINITY (1-800-934-6489).

Re: How do you activate a new modem?

I had to manually go to https://activate.comcast.com/RoutingEngine/accountlookup.do to activate.  I was not automatically forwarded to the activation page.

I don't know how you found that URL, but thank you! I couldn't load any webpages, not even Xfinity.com/activate, but that one got me going!
