I am so incredibly frustrated with Comcast right now! Do to unforeseen financial isssues, I have to move back in with my parents, indefinitely. Exact reasons for this I'd rather not discusss publicly. I'm not happy about it, but it's life as a single mom doing her best. They are in an area that does not get this service, not to mention they already their house set up with why they can get. I cannot afford the termination fee, so now I'm stuck. I had no idea I was under a two year contract! Do they not make any exceptions for people when life happens? I need help, I cannot afford this! I just want to cancel service so I can start to rebuild my life. I could understand a one month penalty, but almost $300+ is impossible for me. What am I supposed to do?!?!

Comcast is going to find that you owe the ETF.  Sorry, it's unfortunate. Maybe they can help out with a payment plan or something.

 

I've asked a Comcast employee to help you. You should expect a reply soon.

Hi Kt419 -- I reviewed your account to see what could be done about these ETF's. Since you mentioned you didn't know you were under a contract, I checked to see if it was accepted or not. Your contract does show it was accepted same day it was ordered. Our contracts state that full termination of the contract for any reason would result in early termination fees. Since the contract does show it was accepted then that would make early termination fees valid if this account were to be terminated.

Accepted how? Also, do you guys not make exceptions at all, or allow any room to negotiate this? I could find a way to do part of it, but you guys are asking almost $300! That's a bit absurd. Also, trying to speak with someone from there is the most frustrating thing I've experienced in years. Can they not step away from their script and talk to you like a human being?

Your acceptance was done verbally. The only exceptions we make is for military personnel who are put into deployment or if you reestablish service within 30 days of disconnection.

So if you were to lookni to my account can you tell me what I'm going to owe when I have to cancel?

Total amount would vary based on when you cancel. You would currently owe $200 in early termination fees if you cancelled today. That termination fee amount deducts by $10 each month on the 19th of each month. 19th was the day your contract was accepted so that's the day that completes a month. Your billing dates run from the 26th of the current month to 25th of following month. Any amount owed for services rendered will depend on when you cancel service within your billing dates.
