I am planning to surprise my son for his birthday in May by putting a small basketball court in the backyard. Unfortunately, there is a Comcast cable line running right above the ideal spot for the basket. It's not even the line to my house, but rather passes over our yard on its route to the neighbor's home. At its low point, the cable line is probably only 7-8 feet off the ground.

The cable line runs from a power pole in the alley, along either a power or telephone line for about 20 feet before splitting off, then drapes over our yard to the neighbor's house.

My request is to have this cable line relocated. If it follows the power lines an additional 10 feet before splitting off, it would end up following a fence line between the properties and be out of the way.

Unfortunately, multiple visits to my local service center have been unproductive in resolving this issue. They simply take down my name and claim that they will see if there is a "crew" that can take care of this. I imagine that note finds its way to the trash long before it reaches any "crew".

My son's birthday is only a month away, and there's not much I can do with this cable line in the way. I'm hoping someone here can help. Thanks!

@Troyberg70

The line (it's called a "drop") shouldn't be running across your property anyhow, it's a form of tresspass. Comcast needs to move the line.

I've asked a Comcast employee to help you. You should expect a reply in this thread in 12-48 hours.

Hi Troybeg70 -- I can help with this cable line request. I have sent a request to tech ops to see what options we have for raising this line or moving it. I'll update you once I hear back.

Following up on this. Was the tech supervisor able to get in contact with you and provide a resolution about this line?
