Wrongful charges now in collection without opportunity for adjustment

For simplicity's sake, I'll detail this as briefly as possible with the assumption that everyone involved in this site understands that each of these previous customer service interaction involves a significant amount of personal time, ridiculous discussions, etc.

  • I attempted to start new service with Xfinity/Comcast a few months ago via online - I chose a $45/m Blast internet plan
  • Was instructed to call to set up service via email because my registration was not completed
  • Over the phone I was told there was an even cheaper offer of (either $37 or $39/ month - that's the trouble with phone-based customer service; no record and no accountability)
  • I was then subsequently billed $79/month
  • Called customer service to resolve issue multiple times
  • Was told the offer I was given initially was no longer available, but if I tack on 10 channels of cable service, I'd be back down to somewhere in the $45-50 range.
  • Cable box shipped and received (never unpacked) - no bill change, still $79/month
  • Call customer service again to resolve issue - no resolution
  • Cancel service - verify with agent that I'll have an opportunity to dispute my end balance (I had not been paying my bill due to it being DOUBLE the amount I agreed to) - he said my final statement would include a number to call to resolve that issue
  • No such statement arrived
  • Outstanding balance is now in collections

I'm at a loss at this point. I've stated in every customer service call that I'm willing to pay the past-due amount of the CORRECT billing amount, but I've yet to be provided that opportunity.

Did you cancel within 30 days of starting your service?

Negative - service was cancelled after several months of incorrect billing.

I've asked a Comcast employee to help you. You should expect a reply in this thread.
