Retention not given me price promised me by chat

I was looking for a way to save a little money because I have a new unexpected monthly cost in my household. I wanted to get rid of the TV service because my family really doesn't watch it. I spoke with chat and they told me there were promos available for internet only $29/$39.  They told me to contact retentions and they would leave a record of our conversation so that I could get the deal. I called customer service and asked to downgrade. It connected me with a rep who said that deal was for new customers only. I'm thinking, even the lowest speed. Then he explained if I removed tv, my bill would go up. I understood that; I would have gotten slower internet. Then I wanted to cancel my whole account because I figured I could become a new customer somewhere else for a lower price, I didn't mind the early termination fee. Then he said ok just call back. Why do I have to call back I asked him since I was already on the phone. I ended up setting a discconect for December. Why didn't retention honer that price quoted in chat or at least offer me another option. Did that guy even know what he was talking about. I don't want to leave but I also don't want to pay for something I'm not using.

I actually had that deal before. I paid $44.00 including tax for 75mb internet until an xfinity rep called convinced me to try X1 basic with hbo for $10 more dollars; I didn’t expect the $7 broadcast fee. Turns out, we didn’t even watch it. So, I wasted $17. Now I can’t even go back to what I had. Uverse may be slower, but it’s my only option now.

@ComcastShane can you help lower my bill? My wife really doesn’t want to change emails.
