Need some serious help!

Need some serious help!

Someone has fraudulently set an account up in my name!

I have secured everything, to my knowledge, such as changing account credentials to things I can be reached at but I did NOT authorize this and need to know how I go about closing this account. I don't even live in the area where it was set up and the fact you people allowed this to happen, over the phone, is beyond ridiculous and shows alot about how easy it is to exploit faulty authentification techniques.

CONTEXT: A friend of mine had received an XFinity offer via mail and we spent a little while looking into it (he needed WiFi, I considered the usefulness of the hotspot) somehow or another my details ended up being used to create an account.

I am not going to pay for something I never agreed to

This may be in the wrong section so if so I apologize but I am frantic and concerned how this will affect my credit and/or why this was allowed to happen in the first place.....
