Early Termination Fee moving to non-serviceable area

Hi everyone,

 

I just cancelled my 12-month Xfinity internet service because I'm moving to Japan in the next month.When setting up the internet, I kept asking the Comcast representative if I would be charged an early termination fee (ETF) if moving to a non-serviceable area, and he said "no" on multiple occasions. Now that I'm cancelling my service, however, I'm told that I'll be charged the prorated month plus a $110 ETF! The woman on the phone said there was nothing she could do on her end to stop the ETF from going through and that I'd have to take it up with my local Xfinity store, but that seems silly. I've seen multiple threads about an ETF where the customer shouldn't have paid it, so I don't think I'm in the wrong here.

 

My service ends on September 1st, and I don't know if the $110 charge will go through before or after that date. This is ludicrous and I feel like I've been lied to.

 

Asking any Xfinity representatives or forum moderators to help, please. Thanks.

For correct information regarding Early Termination Fees [ETFs] please read the sticky FAQ located here.

 

Please note that Early Termination Fees are expressly addressed in your Terms of Service Contract.
