Comcast has entered my social security number wrong!

I have three Xfinity accounts for my California rental houses. I live in Hawaii. Today I called The Philippines' call center to make a change to one account and was told my Social Security number was wrong. I had them check the other two accounts and they were correct. I was told that I

had to go into a Comcast office personally and correct the number. The fact that the account was fine for years and suddenly changed when I called

to make a change made no difference. Evidently, employees can't view histories and don't have supervisors who can override a system and check for errors online. Sitting in Hawaii, the call center supervisor said I had to go to a Comcast store personally, 2600 MILES AWAY!!

All the other ID information I could produce, but they were adamant; I had to fly to California to correct their error. So the message is clear....drop

Comcast; because they don't care. This is the kind of situation that needs to go before the California Public Utilities Commission and the Santa

Cruz County Board of Supervisors when I do have to fly to California.

Hi michaelathan,

 

Sorry for the experience you're having while trying to get this taken care of. The reason we have to advise you to go into a service center is so we are able to verify your identity. Since we cannot physically view the pieces of identification needed to correct this, we would need an agent inside the service center to do so. This is also done to protect the safety of your account, and to avoid others from being able to call in and make changes to the account without your permission.
