Small payment payment before monthly online billing statement

I pay my monthly Comcast billing automatically online.

What is the small fee that is billed to my account a couple weeks prior to the actual monthly billing statement?

Is this to test the validity of the account as still being active before the statement is sent or some kind of hidden

fee outside of the total amount on the statement?

No reason to reply to my question. It was answered when I did a Comcast online chat with one of your staff. Everything is O.K. with my account.
