Senior & low income - Any options?

Hello, my parents live on a fixed income in government-subsidized housing. They would like to get basic internet service. Are there any senior or low-income options available to them? They live in Massachusetts.

Thanks,

- Jim

to my knowledge comcast does not offer anything like that, it has been asked many times.  Your best bet is for you or them to call them and see if they can put them into some kind of package to reduce rates.

I believe there is a 30% discount based on income but you must call customer services and ask about it.  It is not advertised that I am aware.

Just throwing it out there:

If there is a child living in the house who is eligible to participate in the National School Lunch Program, they can get internet for $9.99/month.  http://www.internetessentials.com/

Thanks, but we were aware of that.  We were looking for something for low-income Seniors.  Does Comcast offer them any reduced rate programs?

Re: Senior & low income - Any options?

Please let me know if there is one when you call billing.  I asked about the same thing when I signed up but there wasn't anything better than the promotional rate they were having.

Re: Senior & low income - Any options?

There is an option at least for residents in Washington state that I am aware of.  You can fill out an affidavit form and submit it to Comcast for a discount.  I will be doing this for my mother-in-law soon.

Comcast Affidavit for Low Income Senior or Disability in WA:
