My home cable bill went up $40\mo. When I questioned the increase, I was told it was a "periodic price increase", that no deals were available for existing customers, and that I could shave $8 off of my bill if I switched to basic cable (which only has a few channels not available for free over the air). I used this as an opportunity to cut the cable cord and I'm researching other options . As a bonus, I can hopefully use my findings at work (the annual push to trim my corporate IT\communications budget).
As for loyalty - I was a Comcast customer for 27 years.
