Paid in full collections

My question is how do I have a paid if full collection removed from my credit report? This has really stressed me out . I never received anything by mail saying my account was going to collections in the first place and now my credit has been damaged greatly. I saw the account on my credit report that I get monthly 12/15/17 and payed the balance by 12/22/17. Any help would be appreciated
