Early Termination Fee

Recently, I moved to a non-serviciable area.  When I cancelled (like so many others) I was told that I would not be charged an early termination fee due to moving areas.  In fact, the employee intially said I would, then back tracked and said that I would not have to pay this fee.  A few months later, I received a bill for an ETF. What is unacceptable to me, is that since I was misfed information from the employee, I was unable to recoup the fee when I billed my company for relocation expenses.  

 

How many other people are having this experience?  Is there a way to escalate this further?

Sorry for the experience. Unfortunately, it does state in our service agreements that the ETF will be applicable if you relocate to an area outside of the Comcast footprint. What I would like to do is verify our old account information and confirm whether or not you were in an agreement at the time you moved and if that Early Termination Fee applies to you or not. 

 

Can you please verify your first and last name, the full street address, and the phone number or account number associated with your old services in a private message?

I think you're missing the point of my post - I understood the ETF and contract, but was directed and assured otherwise by a Comcast Customer Service Rep that I would not have to pay it.  Due to this misinformation, I didn't bill it to my relocation expenses after my bill, but Comcast sent me a bill after the fact.  It's frustrating that this fee would have been taken care of as part of my move, but due to incorrect information provided by Comacst, I did not bill it.

I understand what you are saying. If the specialist told you that there would be no termination fee, I can investigate that further. While you may be unable to charge this as part of your moving expenses, I'd like to see if we can resolve the ETF balance on your previous account. Please send me your previous address, your phone number and name so I can pull any call records or notes confirming this and resolve this accordingly.
