This month I got charged $1.99 each for the two TV's that we have on analog to digital converter boxes. We got the two boxes for free, and now for the first time we are being charged for the connections. I have a few questions:
1. Is the $1.99 for the converter?
2. If I buy a digital TV will I not longer need the box and thus avoid the fee?
3. We don't use those TV's often, if I disconnect them will I need to bring the converter box back to comcast to void the additional charges?
Please call 1-800-Comcast and talk to Billing about this. If you don't like the answer you get on the first call, try again. I'm serious. More than once, calling back multiple times is the only way I've been able to get a problem resolved.
A digital TV won't help. Comcast is encrypting its digital channels above Limited Basic, and that tier is likely to be encrypted soon as well.
As long as you are a video subscriber, Comcast doesn't care whether you're actually using the DTAs or not, so it's up to you whether to return them.
