junk comcast modems

[ Edited ]

I am now on my third modem for this year, and they have all been comcast issued modems! Some have had 100% packet loss and my last just this week had "intermitent" D/C issues. In tracking and monitoring my OWN IP network activity, since 1-800-comcast and a comcast tech that came to my house all say nothing is wrong, I've seen these random spikes of connection loss. They tend to knock me off my online gaming! I showed the sofware to a comcast tech when he was here, and he shrugged his shoulders and said "I can't explain it."  I took my modem in for a new one, and guess what, NO MORE D/C! Comcast can't tell their own modem is bad?!?! And on top of this I got the problem I get EVERYTIME I have to re-new my modem with comcast...... first thing, support always blames my wireless N+ belkin router. And everytime I am not able to get my router back online, although comcast always gives me the Belkin support number, IT WAS WORKING BEFORE THEY RESET THE MODEM!!!! And it's on me to figure out how to fix my wireless connections. YAAY comcast for the best ISP in my area.....oh wait, thats cause they are the only broadband ISP in my area, go figure!

look at these and tell me theres no connection issues!!!

Re: junk comcast modems

I'm not discounting the quality comments, but ...

When your modem gets reset, do you turn off the router and modem, turn on the modem and let it acquire a solid signal, and then turn on the router?

You shouldn't have to reset the modem frequently. It should just work. And it should also be pretty durable.

Re: junk comcast modems

Yes, I've done this. If I unplug the ethernet cable from the modem to the laptop, and plug it from the modem to the wireless router, I get two flashing orange lights at the bottom of the router, where as they should be stay on and be blue in color to indicate modem and internet signal. I have not tried this again with the new modem. It finally has not disconnected me for days and I did not want to create problems all over again.
